Blue Star Mothers, Fathers, Sons, and Daughters of Coastal Carolina,
Of anyone who has sent me mail during this deployment, you all know how much a letter or package can turn a day around.  You all do an equally important job as any of us over here.  I have received a lot of mail, but your heart-felt, selfless hours put into what you do for us is not lost on me.  I am having a wonderful Holiday season thanks to you.  I hope you all keep your loved ones close this Christmas.  Thank you for everything you do.

Hi Micki~
Just wanted to let you know that I got a call from Bill a little after lunch today.  He said to thank all the mothers for the girl scout cookies they received - the peanut butter ones were a big hit.  He said they hadn't been getting a lot of mail because the mail trucks were being blown up, but they did get the cookies and they all really enjoyed them.
Glad you got good news and I will talk to you soon.

Carol,

First, on behalf of the guys on our team, I would like to extend our thanks to what your group does for all of us.  It's nice to know that we have support back home.  I think that's good that you gave her my e-mail, and tell her she can e-mail me anytime.  I won't scare the daylights out of her...lol...but I won't sugar coat things too much either.  It is very important that parents and significant others know what their sons are up to.  Again, thanks for all you do.

We received a care package the other day from the BLUE STAR MOTHERS.  I'll
think of a proper way to thank you one of these days.  Meanwhile, let me say
it.  It meant a lot to think that you were thinking of me.  Usually I am
just saying that, re-using a hackneyed cliche.  But this time it really
meant a lot.

Love,
Ethan

Question/comment: Ladies,
I am not sure if this is where I post Thank you's. But I just received a huge box of Easter goodies for the Marines in my Company.  The Peeps were a huge hit with them.  I can't say enough Thank You's for thinking of us.  I can guarentee that it was the highlight to many of my younger Marines. It was good timely due to some events that had previously taken place. It brightened up many of them.  Again Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Respectfully Submitted,
1stSgt Harris and HQSVC Company, 2D MLG, TQ, IRAQ.

My Grandson, Josh Smith, did receive his Easter Basket and asked me to Thank you all for remembering him.  He was so excited.  They are phasing him out of Iraq so I was afraid that he may not be found to receive it.  He will be coming home for 30 days in May but will return to Germany and then probably to Afghanistan.  Please keep him in your prayers.  Joyce Fields

Office of the Commander

3rd Infantry Division

30 December, 2008

Dear Mrs. Dion,

I want to personally thank you for the wonderful support you provided the Soldiers of 3-7 Infantry upon their return from Iraq. The memorial gift bags, in honor of their fallen comrade, SSG Ronald Phillips, meant a great deal to these returning warriors. The support both you and your group provide our Soldiers and Family Members is invaluable...we could not do what we do without it.

I am aware you know first hand the sacrifices Army Families make, especially around the Holidays. Thank you very much for sharing your time with us and for taking care of our Dog Face Soldiers... I wish you and yours the best for 2009! ROCK OF THE MARNE!

Warmest Regards,

Anthony A. Cucolo, lll

We all FINALLY heard from Jonathan over Christmas, and he thanked us all for the packages, said he was shocked there was so much in them!!!  He even got the BBQ sauce, so thanks for that info. Others in his unit
also received pks from organizations like ours, so it made a great Christmas,  and they all shared the wealth. Candy was their favorite
thing to receive..Shows how they are still just children! They ALL enjoyed that.  He is in an area that is very quiet right now, and said
it was very peaceful during Christmas. 'He will try to get a formal thank you out, but I told him we understood the delays in responding.
And just knowing they all received and enjoyed the packages was thank you enough. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas,  I know  I did.
Will see you soon. Shaaron
