Hero Boxes
One of our missions is sending Hero Boxes to our deployed troops. We try to do this 5 times a year. We collect items in front of area stores and ask for names of anyone in the US Military deployed overseas. We send boxes for Valentines Day, Easter, Girl Scout Cookies, Halloween and Christmas. IF we have enough items and postage money, we do a Summer Hero Box. Each packing is between 100 to 175 boxes. Postage alone is in the $4000 range and up. We sent out 206 Christmas Hero boxes filled with Goodies that went around the globe!
We also attend various Veteran Sponsored Ceremonies and Events across the area. If we are asked to attend, we do! Such as Military Appreciation Month in Myrtle Beach! A Baseball Game, A Parade, a Walk in honor of Jack Platt, A JROTC Drill Competition, and the Memorial Day Ceremony at the convention center put on by the City of Myrtle Beach. Where in 2024 our President Carol Dion was awarded the Robert Hawkins Veteran Volunteer of the Year Award! And we were at the Myrtle Beach Classic, PGA Golf Tournament as a chosen charity on Mother's Day! We were chosen again for 2025 so look for us there again!
We donate items and set up give away tables at various events and also at the VA Clinic in Market Commons. On June 14, 2024, in collaboration with WBTW Channel 13 News we held a collection event for the VA Clinic in Market Commons. At two Walmart stores we collected over $20K worth of items to help bridge the gap of needed items for our Veterans! Way to go!!!! We drop off items all the time to be used in the VA Pantry for Veterans having food insecurities. We gave Welcome Signs and baskets to the new occupants of the Tiny Homes in Myrtle Beach. We donate items, when possible to the John Nardmoor House for Homeless Veterans in Myrtle Beach
We love helping and assisting our Veterans in any way we can!
Here are a variety of pictures from the last few months.
